“Hamilton,” one of the most critically acclaimed musicals of this century, makes its way back to Kansas City for nearly two weeks starting Wednesday, Feb. 18, at Kansas City Music Hall inside Municipal Auditorium, 301 W. 13th St.

The hip-hop-infused musical written by Lin-Manuel Miranda covers the life of founding father Alexander Hamilton. It became a cultural phenomenon after it debuted in 2015, winning multiple Tony and Grammy Awards, a Pulitzer Prize and Kennedy Center honors .

Miranda and the cast from its original run on Broadway in New York City aren’t performing when it visits Kansas City, but Lee’s Summit-raised Miriam Ali is. She plays roles in the ensemble cast and an understudy for Peggy and Maria.

If you’re seeing “Hamilton” for the first time or if this is the latest, here’s what you need to know before you go to one of the 16 shows scheduled.
