Police investigating fatal Northland shooting as double suicide

The Kansas City Police Department is investigating the deaths of two people in a Northland home Jan. 14 as a double suicide, according to department spokesperson Capt. Jake Becchina.

Officers responded to the 1200 block of Northeast 83rd Terrace in Kansas City’s Ridgefield neighborhood just after 8:30 p.m. Jan. 14 on a call for service.

There, officers were directed inside a residence where they found Anna Davis, 41, and Darren Davis, 41, with apparent gunshot wounds.

A juvenile was found injured inside the home, department spokesperson Sgt. Philip DiMartino previously said.

Both adults were pronounced dead at the scene. The juvenile was taken to a hospital for treatment.

In a news release Friday, Becchina said both adults died by apparent suicide, which is different from a murder-suicide.

Investigators think the juvenile’s injuries were unintentional and sustained during the deaths, Becchina said. The juvenile’s injuries were non-life threatening.
