Go to this Raytown spot for great entertainment. Return for the fantastic wings
Elevation Grille delivers an upscale lounge feel the moment you walk in, with a sleek, modern interior built for late-night dining and conversation.
Dark tones and black furniture set the mood, while glossy, reflective flooring catches the glow from sculptural honeycomb LED lights overhead.
Bar-height tables and plush seating give the dinning area more of a cocktail-lounge feel rather than a traditional dining space. Above the long, well-lit bar that’s lined with bottles and glassware, hang pendant lights. It feels classy and intentional: a place designed for a night that can easily turn into a vibe with good drinks and good food.
Owned by former Chiefs player Alfonso Hodge, and located at 6141 Blue Ridge Blvd. in Raytown, Elevation Grille is the new home for the long-running Soul Sessions open mic night and hosts various other entertainment events for patrons to enjoy while they have a drink and eat.
The menu matches the setting. Elevation Grille isn’t trying to be a sprawling, multi-page dining destination. It keeps things tight and familiar, wings, wraps, salads and sliders, with the kind of lineup that’s built for sharing, snacking and pairing with a drink while the night moves around you.
If you’re coming hungry for a long, multi-course experience, this may not be your stop. But if you’re looking for a stylish room, an easy order and food that holds its own while you enjoy the atmosphere, Elevation knows exactly what it’s doing.
I started with the Southwestern egg rolls. The dish arrives cut into four slices, each one showing off its colorful filling. The shell is crispy and flaky, breaking with a satisfying crunch before giving way to a savory chicken inside that’s mixed with corn and beans which add a hint of sweetness and texture. A drizzle of creamy sauce across the top ties everything together.
It’s the kind of starter that disappears quickly, especially if you’re sharing, because it hits the comfort-food notes while still feeling a step above standard bar fare.
Then came the Elevation-style wings, the item that makes the strongest case for returning. The order comes with six wings dressed in the house’s signature Elevation sauce, a tangy, zesty take on the traditional buffalo flavor.
The wings are cooked with care: crisp skin on the outside and moist, juicy meat within. That balance matters, because a great sauce can’t rescue wings that are dry or rubbery. Here, the cooking gives the sauce something worthy to cling to.
What impressed me most, though, was the coating. Anyone who eats wings regularly knows the usual problem: uneven saucing. Half the batch ends up drenched while the rest tastes like it got waved near the bowl. Elevation avoids that trap. These wings are coated so evenly that every bite delivers the full impact of the spice and tang.
A light ranch drizzle and a sprinkle of chives finishes the wings with a clean, cool contrast that keeps them from becoming one-note. The ranch doesn’t smother the heat, it smooths the edges.
The balance is what Elevation Grille does best. It offers food that’s straightforward but not careless, familiar but not boring. The space encourages you to linger and the menu makes it easy to order without overthinking it.
This is a place for the night crowd, for friends catching up over drinks, for a casual date that wants a little style, for people who want to eat something satisfying without the formality of a full-service dining production.
Elevation Grille knows its lane and stays in it, upscale atmosphere, a delightful staff and approachable food. If you’re looking for a spot that feels elevated without feeling stiff, this would be a great place to check out.
