A Jackson County Sheriff’s Office deputy is left with serious injuries after he was hit by an SUV in Lee’s Summit Wednesday, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The sheriff’s office called the highway patrol around 6:05 p.m. to investigate a crash involving a deputy, said Cpl. Justin Howard, a MSHP spokesman.

According to a preliminary investigation, two deputies were investigating a previous unrelated crash at the intersection of South Buckner Tarsney and East Ryan Road.
