Looking for a new pet? These KC adoption centers have deals going on right now

A historic milestone from a pet food company is now giving people around Kansas City the chance to bring home a new pet at a lower cost. Hill’s Pet Nutrition, which is based in Overland Park, announced this on Monday, Dec. 8, that its Food, Shelter & Love program has supported 16 million pet adoptions since its inception in 2002.

The program has partnered with over 1,000 animal shelters in North America, and has provided over $300 million worth of nutrition to help pets in need.

To celebrate the accomplishment, Hill’s is teaming with shelters across the United States for a “Sweet 16 Million Adoptions Celebration.” From Monday, Dec. 8, through Sunday, Dec. 14, the company is contributing up to $200,000 to waive dog and cat adoption fees at select Food, Shelter & Love partner locations in North America.

The Humane Society of Greater Kansas City is offering discounts on pet adoptions through Dec. 14 as part of a partnership with Hill’s Pet Nutrition.

“Hill’s ‘Sweet 16 Million Adoptions Celebration’ comes at a valuable time, helping us and other North American shelters find homes for deserving animals,” said Sydney Mollentine, President & CEO of the Humane Society of Greater Kansas City, in a statement.

“Our collaboration ensures the pets in our care receive the best possible start, and it allows us to send adopters home with consistent nutrition.”

Adopters will also receive a new Pet Parent Kit, which includes a starter bag of Hill’s Science Diet, a coupon and post-adoption tips, according to Hill’s.
