Kansas City, Kansas, man identified as victim in deadly parking lot crash

A Kansas City, Kansas, man has been identified as the lone death in a single vehicle accident over the weekend, according to Kansas City, Kansas police.

Just before 7 a.m. Saturday, officers were dispatched to the 1300 block of North 38th Street, where they found Toby Maestas, 65, unresponsive in a grey SUV, according to police spokesperson Cpt. Osvaldo Navarro.

A preliminary investigation showed the man drove north on North 38th Street when the SUV veered off the road into a parking lot, struck two posts, and came to a stop.

Maestas was pronounced dead at the scene. KCKPD’s Traffic Division is currently investigating the incident.
