One man died in a single-car crash in a northwest Kansas City, Kansas, neighborhood Saturday morning, police said.

Officers responded just before 7 a.m. to the 1300 block of N. 38th Street on reports of a crash. When officers arrived, they found a man inside a gray SUV unresponsive, according to Captain Osvaldo Navarro, a KCK police spokesman.

A preliminary investigation into the crash indicates that the man drove north on N. 38th Street when the SUV veered off the road into a parking lot, then struck two posts and came to a rest.

Paramedics responded and pronounced the man dead at the scene, Navarro said.

Police have not yet publicly identified the man who died.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
