Pedestrian killed in crash with SUV on Interstate 70 in Kansas City, Kansas

One man died after being hit by an SUV on Interstate 70 in Kansas City, Kansas, Wednesday night, the Kansas Highway Patrol reports.

Troopers responded just after 5:30 p.m. to eastbound I-70 near Turner Diagonal, or College Parkway, after a reported crash.

The highway patrol reports in an online crash log that a 2018 Toyota Rav4 drove east on I-70 when it struck a pedestrian trying to cross the highway from the south to the north side.

The pedestrian, identified as Samuel Rod Moreno Rodriguez, 41, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the crash log.

The driver and an occupant of the Rav4 were not injured in the crash.

An investigation into what led to the crash is ongoing.
