Kansas City firefighters fought two early morning house fires on Thursday. No injuries were reported, though one firefighter was evaluated by medical personnel at one scene.
At 3:26 a.m., KCFD responded to a house fire in the 9500 block of Olmstead Road. Firefighters found flames and heavy smoke pouring through the roof of a one-story house.
They also found a broken natural gas line and downed power lines in back of the house. From a safe distance they were able to knock down most of the fire and remaining flames and hot spots. Utility crews arrived and secured the broken gas and power lines. The fire was under control in about an hour.
No injuries were reported. One firefighter was briefly evaluated. The cause of the fire was under investigation Thursday morning.
Then, at 5:39 a.m., KCFD responded to a reported house fire in the 3800 block of Bellefontaine Avenue.
