How much are turkeys this Thanksgiving? See prices at KC-area grocery stores
Depending on which store you go to, the price of a turkey in Kansas City can vary as Thanksgiving approaches.
Turkey prices have increased across the country by 75% since October 2024, reaching $1.71 per pound in October 2025, according to a Purdue University study. Part of the surge is due to the Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza, also known as bird flu, which has impacted poultry flocks across the U.S.
Some Kansas City stores have turkeys for as high as $2.99 per pound, and as low as $0.79 per pound. If you go the organic route for your turkey, expect that to be even more expensive.
The Star went around multiple grocery stores on Monday, Nov. 24, throughout the city to find the prices and deals on Turkeys. The most expensive turkeys per pound were at Whole Foods, while the least expensive were at Target.
