Lee’s Summit home was owned by Prince’s relative. It’s now on sale for $995,000
A home in Lee’s Summit has some history tied to one of the greatest musicians of the last half-century, and it’s on sale now for just under $1 million.
A three-bed, three-bathroom, 4,600 square-foot home at 102 NW Hackberry St. with a view of Lakewood Lakes is available through ReeceNichols Real Estate for $995,000. One of the former owners might have compared it to the waters of Lake Minnetonka.
The home was owned by Alfred Jackson, the half-brother of the music icon Prince. Jackson was one of six half-siblings of Prince, born Prince Rogers Nelson, which made them all heirs to Prince’s estate after the musician’s death in 2016, since the “artist formerly known as” didn’t have a will to determine who inherits his belongings, including the right to his beloved music.
Jackson bought the home in 2017 for $579,000, according to a Zillow listing. He owned it until his death Aug. 30, 2019. Zillow listings show it was on sale multiple times between 2021 and 2024, and Reece Nichols shows a sold listing from agent Kim James on Aug. 28, 2024. A new listing under her name has been active since Friday, Nov. 14.
The home was built in 1976 and underwent extensive renovations between 2022 and 2024, including a handcrafted clay tile roof. An open concept living room is flooded with natural light from the big windows, also giving people views of the lake scenery. The listing says it’s great for hosting parties because of how much open space there is for guests, family and friends to roam around.
The home’s primary bedroom includes a private balcony to watch the sunrise or sunset, and comes with a private bathroom and a lot of closet space.
Only the living room and kitchen are fitted with hardwood flooring, while the bedrooms and secondary living room on the bottom level of the home are carpeted. The bathrooms feature ceramic tiles on the floors.
The kitchen area includes ample space for cooking on granite countertops. The kitchen is up a small flight of stairs, and a small nook nearby can function as the dining room.
An outdoor patio and plenty of backyard space makes this home feel even larger than what the listing says.
“Designed for both relaxation and entertaining, this home’s two-tier brick patios extend the living space outdoors, creating a perfect setting for dining al fresco or gathering under the stars,” the real estate firm said on its listing.
It’s a part of a homeowners association, which comes with amenities such as access to a nearby clubhouse, exercise room, golf course, putting greens, swimming pools and tennis courts.
Nearby schools include Hazel Grove Elementary School, Bernard C. Campbell Middle School and Lee’s Summit North High School.
