New Riverside concert venue announces first shows. Who’s performing in 2026?
The new amphitheater due to open in 2026 north of the river near downtown Kansas City officially got its name, and has announced a few of its first shows.
Morton Amphitheater, the 16,000-seat Live Nation venue located off Horizons Parkway and Interstate 635 in Riverside, said in a press release that it will host more than 30 shows each concert season. The venue’s website lists its first four concerts of the inaugural season, beginning in August 2026.
Fans yearning for more pop rock to come to the Kansas City area will have their needs met. Here’s a look at who’s playing at the new venue in 2026 and when tickets are on sale.
Train concert details
More acts are expected to be added in the coming months, but as of Monday, Nov. 10, the first performance at Morton Amphitheater is Train, the San Francisco-based pop rock band that debuted in 1993. They’re known for hits like “Hey, Soul Sister,” “Drops of Jupiter (Tell Me),” and “Drive By.”
They’re heading to the amphitheater to celebrate 25 years of their album “Drops of Jupiter” on Aug. 12, 2026. Fans can sign up now for presale access Tuesday, Nov. 11, and the general public can purchase tickets Friday, Nov. 14.
Rod Stewart coming to KC area
Fans will then get to see British pop-rock icon Rod Stewart one last time Aug. 15, 2026. The 80-year-old singer is one of the top-selling acts of all time, having sold over 120 million records worldwide since beginning his career in the 1960s.
He’s topped the Billboard charts numerous times with songs like “Da Ya Think I’m Sexy?” and “Maggie May,” and has one Grammy Award to his name, along with being inducted into The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice, once as a solo artist and with the band Faces. Tickets are on sale now.
5 Seconds of Summer concert in Riverside
Australian-born pop-rock band 5 Seconds of Summer heads to Morton Amphitheater on Aug. 20, 2026 as a part of their EVERYONE’S A STAR! Tour, named after their newest album releasing Friday. They’re the first Australian act to have three Billboard No. 1 one albums, and the 2018 single “Youngblood” has over 2 billion streams on Spotify.
Artist presale tickets for 5 Seconds of Summer go on sale Wednesday, Nov. 12, and general public tickets are available Nov. 14.
Jack Johnson concert
The last artist announced for the amphitheater’s first year so far is soft-rock star Jack Johnson, when the Hawaii native ventures to Kansas City on Sept. 1, 2026 as a part of his SURFILMUSIC tour. The singer promotes sustainability at all shows with his All At Once foundation by working with venues to source locally grown organic foods grown by local farmers and reducing single-use plastic at every level of the tour’s production.
Artist presale tickets to hear songs like “Better Together,” “Banana Pancakes,” and “Upside Down” from the No. 1 album made for the 2006 Curious George animated movie are on sale now, and the general public can buy tickets Nov. 14.
