One dead, another injured after car crashes over bridge in KCK: Police

A single car crash left one person dead and another seriously injured in Kansas City, Kansas, Saturday.

Officers responded just after midnight to the 300 block of North James Street. When they arrived, they found one vehicle with two occupants inside, according to a press release from the Kansas City Kansas Police Department.

A preliminary investigation revealed that a vehicle sped north on James Street when it lost control at a curve in the road. The vehicle then went over a bridge, according to the press release.

One occupant was pronounced dead at the scene. Another occupant was taken to a hospital with serious injuries.

Police have not yet publicly identified the person who died.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
