Man struck and killed by vehicle near Old 56 Highway in Olathe

A pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle in Olathe Sunday night, according to police.

Police were called around 8:37 p.m. to the area of Old 56 Highway and Chestnut Street where they found 36-year-old Aureliano Gonzalez-Sanchez critically injured, according to Sean Wilkes, Community Outreach Officer with the Olathe Police Department

Gonzalez-Sanchez was taken to a hospital where he was later declared dead. The driver of the vehicle stayed at the scene and was cooperating with the investigation.
