Cool cats wanted: Help us find the cutest cat in the Kansas City area

Calling all cat lovers! For the second year in a row, The Star is searching for the cutest cat in the KC area.

Enter your cat or kitten in our new poll now to help us crown the cutest feline in the Kansas City area.

Only the first 50 submissions will move to our voting round, so don’t wait to submit!

If you have a multi-cat household, we kindly ask that you only submit a photo of one of your cats, so we can showcase a variety of feline friends from around the metro. (We’re also looking for dogs if you want to submit here.)

Submissions will be accepted through Thursday, Oct. 16, at 11:59 p.m.

How it works

The first cats we receive will then be voted on by the public in two rounds of voting. Voting will be open to all readers. Once voting opens, readers may vote as many times as they want.

On Monday, Oct. 20, we will begin round one of voting to find the final 10 contenders. Votes will reset after each round and voting will conclude at 11:59 p.m. on the following Wednesday. After that, there will be a final vote, and the winner will be announced on kansascity.com.

But that’s not all. New for 2025, the winner of that competition will then be entered in a national competition against the winners of voting at more than 20 McClatchy papers across the country, in a competition launching Thursday, Nov. 10.

Even though we didn’t crown a winner in last year’s cutest cat poll, we definitely will this year, so stick with us.

Let’s find the most adorable cat in KC!
