One dead, three injured after car drove the wrong way on Kansas City interstate

A woman is dead and three others are injured after an SUV drove the wrong way on a Kansas City interstate Saturday.

A 2017 Subaru Forester was driving south in the northbound lanes of Interstate 29 south of US 169 around 3:30 p.m. when it hit a 2007 Honda Accord headed north, according to a Missouri Highway Patrol crash report.

The Honda then hit a 2021 Chevrolet Traverse. A fourth vehicle, a 2024 Toyota Venza, hit debris on the roadway, according to the report. The occupant in the Honda, a 21-year-old woman, was declared dead at the scene.

Both the drivers in the Subaru and the Honda were taken to North Kansas City Hospital with serious injuries. The driver in the Chevrolet sustained minor injuries, but refused treatment at the scene.
