Video of KC resident reacting to gunshot sounds goes viral on TikTok
Video showing a Kansas City resident react to what he believed were gunshots outside of his apartment has gone viral on TikTok.
The first of the two part series was originally posted on Monday, and has gotten 2.1 million views as of Thursday afternoon. Ring footage inside poster Nico Ramos’ bedroom shows him flopping out of bed onto the ground as a series of pops are heard outside the window.
In the caption, Ramos said incidents like this have happened before, which is why he said he installed a camera in his bedroom.
“I finally caught it on video,” he said in the caption.
The second video, posted Wednesday, shows Ramos then running into the kitchen with his dog as the sounds of what appears to be at least nine shots are heard. It has gotten 23,000 views as of Thursday afternoon.
Five police officers were called around 11 p.m. Sunday to the area of 27th Street and Gillham Road. Alayna Gonzalez, spokesperson for the Kansas City Police Department, told The Star there was no evidence of gunfire at the scene, meaning no shell casings or signs of property damage were found.
No incident in that area was posted on KCPD’s crime map as of Thursday afternoon.
