Viral videos show attack at Kansas City concert. Teen detained, KCPD says
A minor was detained by the Kansas City Police Department after he appeared to beat up a T-Mobile Center employee at the NBA YoungBoy concert Sunday night, a KCPD spokesperson confirmed.
The boy was released to his guardian and the investigation is ongoing, wrote Alayna Gonzalez, spokesperson for the KCPD in an email.
Viral videos from multiple concertgoers show a young person push an older man wearing a T-Mobile Center polo into an aisle. Using both his fists, the boy punched the sitting man as onlookers screamed “no” and “oh my god.” Another concertgoer pulled the attacker off of the man, who lost his glasses and appeared dazed.
T-Mobile Center spokesperson Shani Tate Ross told Fox4 that violence is prohibited at the venue and called the attack “horrific.” The T-Mobile Center did not respond to The Star’s request for comment by the time of publication.
The incident happened at the concert of rapper NBA YoungBoy, also known as YoungBoy Never Broke Again. Kansas City was the 10th stop on the Louisiana performer’s 40-city MASA tour.
