Train collides with semi truck at Lee’s Summit railroad crossing

No one was injured when a train crashed into a tractor trailer in Lee’s Summit Thursday night, police said.

Emergency responders were dispatched to the crash around 7:30 p.m. A Union Pacific train collided with the semi truck at a railroad crossing at 4th and Southwest Main streets, according to a Union Pacific Railroad spokesperson.

Officers with the Lee’s Summit Police Department responded to the scene and urged the public to avoid the area as cleanup was underway.

No one was injured in the crash, the police department said on social media.

Police continue to investigate what led to the crash. No other information was available Friday.
