These Kansas City area grocery store chains will adjust hours for Labor Day 2025
If you run out of hot dog buns or bug spray Monday, here are the Kansas City area grocery stores open on Labor Day 2025.
Various grocery stores will be open Sept. 1 on both the Missouri and Kansas sides, including Overland Park, Olathe, Shawnee, Lenexa, Independence, Lee’s Summit and Blue Springs.
Swimmers take note — weather forecasts predict an unusually cool Labor Day. The high is expected to be in the upper 70s, which is about 10 degrees less than the typical high of 85 degrees. It should be a relatively dry day, with less than one-tenth of an inch of rain.
Three grocery store chains will have different hours on Labor Day:

- Costco (closed)
- Sam’s Club (closes at 6 p.m.)
These grocery stores in the Kansas City area will have their usual hours on Labor Day. Some departments, like their delis and pharmacies, might be closed or operating on reduced schedules, so check with the store for exact hours.
