What to expect as Kansas City’s Labor Day weekend forecast comes into focus
A few showers may skirt Kansas City on Thursday, but most of the region should stay dry and comfortable, just in time for the start of Labor Day weekend.
A storm system from the west is pushing clouds and some rain toward the metro, but the heaviest rainfall will likely remain west and southwest of Kansas City, the National Weather Service said.
“Kansas City may only see a few hundredths of an inch of rain to maybe one-tenth of an inch of rain,” the weather service said in its forecast discussion. “The current trend is for much of central and northern Missouri to miss out on the rainfall outside of a few isolated sprinkles.”
While the day will start cloudy, skies are expected to become mostly sunny.
Temperatures will continue to be cooler than average, reaching the upper 70s — well below the 85 degrees that is typical for this time of year.
Labor Day weekend forecast
Heading into the long holiday weekend, the mild temperatures are expected to continue.
For those planning outdoor activities this Labor Day weekend, expect comfortable temperatures and only a slight chance of rain.
“Temperatures are expected to stay mild, with highs in the upper 70s to lower 80s,” the weather service said.
If storms do develop, the best chance for rain is west of U.S. 65, with about a 15-25% chance. Most areas will stay dry.
Nearly perfect weather is on tap for Kansas City to enjoy the last long weekend of summer.
