Man arrested in Alabama and charged in deadly shooting in North Kansas City
A man has been arrested in Alabama and charged in connection with a shooting that killed one person in North Kansas City on Monday, according to law enforcement officials.
Ray Von McCall, 37, has been charged with second-degree homicide, armed criminal action and shooting a firearm at or from a motor vehicle causing injury or death. He has been in custody in Mobile, Alabama, since Tuesday, according to Cher Congour, spokesperson for the Clay County Prosecutor’s Office.
North Kansas City police officers responded to the area of Armour Road and Missouri Route 210 around 3 p.m. Monday after receiving “multiple 911 calls” reporting a shooting and car wreck, said Kim Nakahodo, deputy city administrator for North Kansas City.
Deandre Ferguson, 33, was transported from the scene to a hospital and was later pronounced dead, Nakahodo said. McCall then fled to Alabama, where he was identified and arrested the next day.
“This case is an example of how quickly and efficiently the Metro Squad, outside agencies, and prosecutors can work together to deliver results that protect our communities,” Clay County Prosecutor Zachary Thompson said in a statement announcing the charges.
McCall remained in Alabama on Thursday pending extradition to Missouri.
