New foods coming to KU’s revamped stadium, including these KC favorites
Renovations are complete at David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium at the University of Kansas in Lawrence for 2025, just in time for the Jayhawks’ first regular season game Saturday, Aug. 23.
The renovation rebuilt the west, southwest and north sides of the stadium, along with brand-new seating, a larger scoreboard and homages to the state. The 40,000 fans that’ll pack the stadium each game can also dine on brand-new food options at concession stands inside.
Kansas Athletics shared a full list of food and beverage partnerships at David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium this season, and it features a few Kansas City-based businesses.

Johnny’s Tavern, a staple for KU students and other Lawrence residents, will serve fans at the stadium. It has two Lawrence locations and a few bars in the Kansas City area. The sports bar serves standard bar food like burgers, wings, loaded nachos and pizza.
The bar will be joined by Tiki Taco inside the stadium. The restaurant, which began at its 1710 W. 39th St. location in 2017, now has locations in Overland Park, Olathe and will open another spot in Shawnee this year.
It’s unknown what’s on the menu inside the stadium, but the California-inspired Mexican restaurant serves curly fry-filled burritos, tacos, bowls, nachos and more at its storefronts.
Also joining Tiki Taco from Kansas City is Boulevard Brewing Company. Founder John McDonald is a 1976 KU graduate and fans can get their hands on some of the brewery’s offerings at the new facility, like its unfiltered wheat beer and Quirk seltzers in KU-themed cans.
