David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium at the University of Kansas in Lawrence, is undergoing a monumental $448 million transformation, with its first phase nearing completion just in time for the 2025 football season.
This extensive renovation has completely rebuilt the west, southwest, and north sides of the stadium, delivering an entirely new fan experience.
Among the major upgrades are brand-new seating, including elevated and closer premium options, designed for enhanced comfort with increased legroom and chair backs. A state-of-the-art scoreboard, two and a half times larger than the old one, and a cutting-edge conference center on the north end further elevate the venue’s capabilities.
Beyond the structural enhancements, the stadium now boasts a striking aesthetic. The recently installed artificial turf now features blue end zones with a subtle wheat stalk design, a nod to the state’s agricultural heritage which echoes the new, light poles circling the stadium.
New seating displays a red “K” from the University of Kansas flag, and Rock Chalk further immersing fans in Jayhawk pride. Fans will also notice improved concessions and restrooms, as part of an improved game day experience.
The Kansas Jayhawks will host Fresno State on August 23, 2025, for the first football game in the renovated stadium, which will now hold about 40,000 fans.
