Kansas City is getting new nonstop flight from KCI to this Florida beach town
Kansas City residents will have another quick route to a southern coastal destination starting fall 2025. Frontier Airlines is launching a new round-trip nonstop flight between Kansas City and Tampa, Florida.
Starting Oct. 11, the route from the budget airline will run weekly between Kansas City International Airport, which uses the airport code MCI, and Tampa International Airport (TPA). The Saturday afternoon flights are expected to take approximately two hours and 50 minutes, according to Frontier.
On Saturdays, the flight will leave Kansas City at 4:30 p.m. and arrive in Tampa at 8:30 p.m. The return flight departs from Tampa on Saturdays at 1:47 p.m. and arrives in Kansas City at 3:28 p.m.
Round trip nonstop flights in October cost $200 with just a personal item, or $267 including a carry-on bag. Travelers who book select tickets through Monday, July 28, can purchase them for $49 one way.
The Tampa International Airport is less than an hour drive to the Florida cities of Clearwater, St. Petersburg and Lakeland.
KCI also has a nonstop flight through Southwest Airlines to Tampa, and Allegiant operates a seasonal nonstop flight to the nearby St. Pete–Clearwater International Airport. Frontier passengers can already fly nonstop to Atlanta and Denver from Kansas City.
