Two dead after Truman Road convenience store shooting in Kansas City
Update: The Kansas City Police Department has identified the victims as 32-year-old Taylor D. Garrett and 35-year-old Byron A. Garrett, according to spokesperson Alayna Gonzalez.
Two men are dead after a shooting at a gas station convenience store in Kansas City Sunday afternoon, police said.
Police were called around 1:15 p.m. to a convenience store in the 2200 block of East Truman Road and Brooklyn Street, where they found two men unresponsive suffering from gunshot wounds, according to Officer Alayna Gonzalez, spokesperson for the Kansas City Police Department.
Officers began to render aid until emergency personnel arrived to take over. Both men were declared dead at the scene.
There is no preliminary information indicating what led to the shooting, police said, but a male was located at the scene and taken into custody for further investigation.
Police are not seeking anyone else in connection with the shooting. This marks the 94th and 95th homicides this year, according to data tracked by The Star, which includes fatal police shootings.
