Randi Mahomes, Gracie Hunt share ways to help Texas flood victims, relief efforts

In the aftermath of historic flooding in central Texas that struck close to home for the Kansas City Chiefs family, Randi Mahomes and Gracie Hunt are sharing ways fans can help with relief efforts.

Nine-year-old Janie Hunt, a member of Chiefs owner Clark Hunt’s family, died in the devastation. She was attending Camp Mystic, an all-girls summer camp along the Guadalupe River hit by the flash flood that left 27 young campers, counselors and the camp’s owner dead as of Tuesday.

Officials Tuesday said five campers and one counselor were still unaccounted for.

“Our hearts are broken by the devastation from the floods in Wimberley and the tragic loss of so many lives — including a precious little Hunt cousin, along with several friends’ little girls,” Clark Hunt’s wife, Tavia Hunt, wrote on Instagram.

The Hunts live in the Dallas area.

The Texas ties are strong for the Mahomes family, too.

Patrick was born in Tyler, Texas, and played football for Texas Tech University. His wife, Brittany Mahomes, is also from Texas and played soccer at the University of Texas at Tyler.

Patrick and Brittany, and Patrick’s brother, Jackson, recently gifted Randi a new home in Texas.

Randi shared information on her Instagram about the fundraising efforts of James Avery Artisan Jewelry, which has a workshop in the Texas Hill Country.

Now through Aug. 4, the company is donating 100% of the profits from the sale of its “Deep in the Heart of Texas” charm to flood relief efforts.

The charm — shaped like the state of Texas with a heart-shaped cutout in the middle — comes in sterling silver ($59) or 14K yellow gold ($330).

“This charm has always celebrated the pride and resilience of our state, and now, it carries a deeper meaning,” the company posted on Instagram. ⁣

“To all those affected, we send our love, strength, and heartfelt prayers. And to the first responders and neighbors who have stepped in with open hands and open hearts, we offer our deepest gratitude.”

The charm has become so popular in the last few days that it sold out in many stores but can be ordered on the website, jamesavery.com. The website warns that the flooding might delay processing and shipping, up to six weeks or longer.

The company is also donating $1 million to relief efforts.

Also, Gracie Hunt, daughter of Clark and Tavia, shared the fundraising efforts of RW Fine Jewelry in Dallas

On Wednesday and Thursday, the jeweler is donating 100% of its profits to Minuteman Disaster Response and Austin Pets Alive.

“We cannot seem to stop the tears as we grieve the lives lost and ache for those left behind,” the company posted on Instagram, a message Gracie shared with her followers.

The Minuteman group is a nonprofit that deploys trained, equipped volunteers immediately after disasters to provide free relief.

Austin Pets Alive is busy rescuing animals left homeless after the tragedy and reuniting owners with their pets.

As of last year Gracie is the proud dog mommy of a teacup Pomeranian named Yeti.
