One person died after a crash involving a mini bike on Manchester Trafficway Wednesday night, police said.

Officers responded just after 10:30 p.m. to a reported collision on Manchester near Interstate 70.

A white and red Mack dump truck drove south on Manchester, making a left turn on the entrance ramp of I-70, according to a crash log.

As the dump truck was turning, a black mini bike allegedly drove north on Manchester without headlights on and struck the truck, according to the crash log.

The mini bike driver was ejected from the vehicle. Paramedics pronounced the driver dead at the scene.

The dump truck driver was not injured in the crash.

An investigation into what caused the crash is ongoing, police said.

The crash is Kansas City’s 40th traffic death this year, said Capt. Jake Becchina, a police spokesman. At this time last year, the city had recorded 49 traffic deaths, Becchina said.
