One person was seriously injured in a single-vehicle crash in south Kansas City Saturday, police said.

Officers responded around 2:44 a.m. to eastbound Interstate 470 near Hillcrest Road on a reported collision.

A white Chevrolet Tahoe allegedly sped east on I-470 when the driver failed to turn at a curve in the highway, according to a crash log. The Tahoe traveled off the left side of the road and hit a guard rail.

The Tahoe kept moving for a distance between the guard rails before it rolled over barriers separating the east and west lanes of traffic, according to the crash log. The Tahoe eventually came to rest in the westbound lanes of I-470.

The driver was the sole occupant of the Tahoe and was allegedly not wearing a seat belt. The driver was ejected from the vehicle, the crash log said.

Paramedics transported the driver to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
