Motorcycle rider suffers critical injuries in early morning West Bottoms crash
A motorcycle rider suffered critical injuries in a crash in the West Bottoms early Friday morning, Kansas City police said.
Officers were called to the area of West 12th Street and Liberty Street around 12:30 a.m., said Sgt. Phil DiMartino, a spokesman for the Kansas City Police Department. Investigators said the driver of the motorcycle was allegedly speeding west on 12th Street, failed to negotiate the curve in the road and laid the motorcycle down, according to DiMartino.
The motorcycle slid, hit a curb and the rider was thrown from the vehicle.
The rider was taken to an area hospital and was in critical condition, DiMartino said later Friday morning.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
