Motorcyclist killed in Kansas City after colliding with tractor-trailer
A motorcyclist was killed after driving at high speeds into a tractor-trailer in Kansas City Monday night, according to police.
The motorcyclist, who was not publicly identified, was driving eastbound on Gardner Avenue when they collided with a tractor-trailer truck turning left onto westbound Gardner Avenue, Kansas City police said in a news release.
The truck, coming from Bellefontaine Street, was midway through its turn when the motorcycle struck it. According to police, the motorcycle was traveling at a high speed.
The police report said both the Harley Davidson motorcycle and its driver traveled underneath the trailer after the collision. The motorcyclist was then run over by the semi-truck’s rear tires.
The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.
This is Kansas City’s 31 traffic-related fatality compared to 47 at this time last year, according to police. Police said the investigation is ongoing.
