Here’s what to expect from this week’s Kansas City Council meeting -- and how to watch
On Thursday, the Kansas City Council will consider several items, including loitering and federal tariffs.
The full agenda can be found online.
Some of the things the council will consider:
A change to the loitering ordinance that will make it easier for police to address issues of people blocking access to businesses.
A resolution directing the city manager to review how federal tariffs are negatively affecting businesses and to convene a Kansas City Trade and Economic Resilience Summit within 90 days.
A resolution directing the city manager to establish a citywide workforce development pipeline initiative.
Several other items will be introduced, then assigned to committee for study. Among them is a proposal that could give greater public access to the Missouri River levee in time for the 2026 World Cup. A companion ordnance would widen the boundaries of the downtown entertainment district to include the levee.
The council will meet on Thursday at 2 p.m., at City Hall, 414 E. 12th St..
You can attend in person or watch an online live stream of the meeting on the city You Tube channel, or via Zoom, or on cable channel 2.
The council does not reserve a special time for public comments at its legislative meeting. Public comments are generally heard at committee meetings, which are usually on Tuesdays.
The council might go into closed session at the end of the meeting.
