One person seriously injured in Midtown shooting, according to KCMO police

One person was seriously injured in a shooting in midtown Kansas City on Tuesday afternoon, according to police.

The shooting took place near 39th Street and Broadway Boulevard around 12:48 p.m., according to officer Alayna Gonzalez, a Kansas City Police Department spokesperson.

Multiple patients and visitors at nearby St. Luke’s Hospital took to social media early Tuesday afternoon to share that they had seen the shooting occur through the windows of the hospital.

Portions of Broadway Boulevard were closed temporarily after the shooting, including near Baltimore Avenue. Several KCATA buses were temporarily rerouted around Broadway Boulevard following the shooting.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
