The Kansas City Royals’ season is barely a week old and it’s already gone to the dogs.

No, the team isn’t in the cellar in the division standings already. The boys in blue are actually tied for the lead.

Maybe we should say the dogs have gone to the game.

If you were at Friday night’s game between the Royals and the Baltimore Orioles you may have noticed some of the fans were a little furrier than usual. It was Bark at the Park night at Kauffman Stadium, a team promotion that invites fans to bring their pooches to the game.

Many of the dogs, being the Royals fans they are, showed up wearing team apparel just like their human companions.

It was the first of three Bark at the Park promotions planned for the season. The remainder of the dog-friendly games will be on May 6 and Sept. 16.

The Royals delivered a performance that gave plenty of fans reason to wag their tails. Royals 8, Orioles 2.
