Vehicle smashes into Johnson County home causing major damage. Residents must relocate
Overland Park resident David Carpenter said he and his wife Karen were in their Hunter’s Pointe neighborhood townhouse near West 117th Street and Grand Drive Tuesday morning when they heard a loud boom. When they went to check on the cause of the noise, they discovered that their home had be hit by a car.
Carpenter says the driver of the car mistakenly hit the accelerator instead of the brakes causing the vehicle to smash through the side of their garage. The driver of the car was not injured but the structure and the couple’s car that was parked inside the garage sustained major damage.
The Carpenters, longtime residents of the townhouse, will be forced to relocate while the structure is repaired. Karen Carpenter said the leasing company has offered to move them into the recently remodeled unit next door.
