Olathe police officers are looking for a man who allegedly attempted to lure several children into a car outside a local park Thursday afternoon.

Officers with the Olathe Police Department responded around 1:30 p.m. to the eastern portion of Southglen Park, near the 11300 block of S. Cook Street, according to OPD spokesperson John Moncayo.

Responding officers received a report that a man in a gray or silver four-passenger car with no hubcaps had been asking children playing in the park to get in his car, Moncayo said. The officers contacted the juveniles’ parents but were unable to track down the suspect, Moncayo said.

OPD officers are still searching for the man, who is believed to be in his 50s or 60s. The man has dark brown skin and dark brown hair and was last seen wearing dark pants and a red shirt, Moncayo said.

OPD is asking residents with information on the incident to call 913-971-6363.
