Shawnee man killed after crashing into tree at Colorado ski resort, police say
A 20-year-old Shawnee man died after crashing into a tree while skiing at a ski resort in Colorado, police said.
Ski patrol at Winter Park Ski Resort in Winter Park, Colorado, responded to a call just before 11 a.m. on March 18 about a man who had crashed into a tree on Lupin, an intermediate to advanced skill trail on the mountain.
Guests on the scene started CPR until ski patrol arrived and took over resuscitation efforts, the Fraser Winter Park Police Department said in a news release.
Paramedics transported the man to a hospital near the resort. He later died from his injuries, police said.
The Grand County Coroner’s Office confirmed the man’s identity as Andrew McDonald of Shawnee, Kansas.
Police said McDonald was wearing a helmet at the time of the incident.
