As more winter weather caused road closures, severe conditions and power outages in the Kansas City metro Wednesday, area school districts have announced closures and delayed starts.

Overnight, rain switched to snow as temperatures dropped. Wind gusts of up to 60 miles per hour in some areas were possible, prompting a blizzard warning from the National Weather Service in Kansas City.

According to the weather service, light snow is expected through the morning with up to another inch possible. Just before 6:30 a.m., Troop A of the Missouri State Highway Patrol said on X that troopers were on the scene of multiple weather related calls. The highway patrol advises drivers to take it slow and avoid or delay travel if possible Wednesday.

Several schools have either canceled classes or delayed starts Wednesday. Here is a working list of the school closures, which will be updated as information comes available.
