A new nonstop flight to the East Coast is being added to Kansas City International Airport’s itinerary through Delta Airlines.

The airport announced a new daily nonstop flight to Raleigh-Durham International Airport in North Carolina. The flights are scheduled for takeoff May 7, according to the airport’s nonstop destination website.

KCI said in a press release it’s looking to build on its record-breaking 2024 travel year with the addition of the nonstop flight to Raleigh-Durham. The airport hosted more than 12 million passengers in 2024, and Mayor Quinton Lucas says the new nonstop route “strengthens our city’s accessibility and supports business and tourism growth, establishing Kansas City as a world-class destination.”

The new addition follows a string of new nonstop flights launched in 2024, including routes to Sacramento, California; Hollywood-Burbank, California; and Columbus, Ohio. The airport is also adding a nonstop flight to Alabama’s Gulf Shores in May.

“Anytime a new flight route is added, it creates more opportunities — not just for visitors to experience all that Kansas City has to offer, but also for our residents to stay better connected,” Lucas said in a statement.

The daily nonstop flight to Raleigh-Durham will operate year-round, leaving at 6:55 p.m. Central Standard Time daily and arriving at 10:19 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. The flight leaves Raleigh at 7:55 a.m. Eastern Standard Time and returns to Kansas City at 9:41 a.m. Central Standard Time.
