Taylor Swift’s Grammys fashion — and thigh chain — pay homage to Chiefs, Travis Kelce
Last year, she wore bridal white. This year, Taylor Swift shimmered in a short, sexy Chiefs-red dress on the red carpet at the Grammy Awards in Los Angeles.
The pop star showed up just a few hours after the Chiefs, including her boyfriend Travis Kelce, departed Kansas City for New Orleans, where they will play the Philadelphia Eagles in the Super Bowl on Feb. 9.
Clearly, she had Kelce on her mind — more specifically on her leg.
Her dress was cut high on the thigh to show off the custom piece of jewelry tied around her leg, a thigh chain with a dangling T-shaped charm.
“No surprises that Taylor’s jewels for the night are by her go-to favourite Lorraine Schwartz,” wrote Swift fashion expert Sarah Chapelle on Instagram.
“But of course the most eye catching jewel of all is that thigh chain which Taylor is specifically credited as having co-designed with Lorraine.”
Her arrival at the show came with little fanfare as she blended into the crush of celebrities on the red carpet.
It was a quiet arrival compared to the hype of last year when fans waited all day leading up to the Grammys show hoping that somehow Swift and Kelce would make their red carpet debut, or at the very least she would wear red for the team.
She did this year — a custom dress by Vivienne Westwood.
She wore bridal white last year on a day when hours before the Grammys the profile pictures on Swift’s social media accounts turned black and white.
The white custom Schiaparelli gown she wore to the show gave another clue of the black-and-white and muted tones of “The Tortured Poets Department” album, which she announced that night as she accepted the Grammy for best Pop Vocal Album.
“TTPD” debuted three months later on April 19.
Swift and Kelce have yet to walk a red carpet together.
That darn Super Bowl got in the way of the Grammys last year, too. The team’s travel to Las Vegas on the day of the show quashed fans’ hopes that the two would appear together.
“I wish I could go support Taylor at the Grammys and watch her win every single award that she’s nominated for,” Kelce said last year.
