A man hospitalized after a collision near Arrowhead Stadium following the Chiefs’ playoff win Saturday suffered a ‘medical emergency’ which caused the crash, Kansas City police said Monday.

The police department’s preliminary investigation revealed that the man, who was driving a white SUV, had the emergency as he was leaving his parking space at 1 Arrowhead Dr. He lost consciousness, Officer Alayna Gonzalez, a police spokesperson, said in a release. He then “collided with two unoccupied pickup trucks,” she said.

“The passenger of the white SUV was able to shut down the vehicle,” Gonzalez said.

Four bystanders suffered minor to moderate injuries but refused medical treatment at the scene. The driver remains in a local hospital in critical but stable condition.
