Lenexa police have identified the woman killed in a suspected DUI crash Friday night, as another local woman has been charged with second-degree murder in the case.

Tsige G. Mesfin, 48, of Shawnee, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash Friday, authorities said. According to a preliminary investigation by Lenexa police, Mesfin was traveling northbound on Park Street when an eastbound Ford Bronco on West 89th Terrace failed to stop at a posted stop sign.

The Bronco struck Mesfin’s Toyota RAV4, police said in a news release.

Officers responded to the scene at 11:10 p.m. Friday and found both vehicles off the roadway and in a nearby yard.

Two occupants in the Bronco were not injured, police said. The driver of that vehicle, Amy Dawn Crouch, 46, of Lenexa, was taken into custody on suspicion of driving under the influence.

Crouch has since been charged by the Johnson County District Attorney’s Office with second-degree murder.

As of Wednesday morning, Crouch was being held in the Johnson County jail.

Lenexa’s Traffic Safety Unit is still investigating the crash.
