Mrs. Claus never looked as good: Taylor Swift in luxurious Christmas red at Chiefs game
And just like that, every fashionista has added “red coat” to their Christmas list.
Winter, which officially began Saturday, is a tricky style season.
You need to stay warm, but how do you do it without looking, well, frumpy?
It’s fashion vs. function — and leave it to Taylor Swift to show us the way.
Swift floated into GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium for Saturday afternoon’s Chiefs-Texans game in a jaw-dropping, utterly glamorous red coat — the Lulu coat ($512) by Charlotte Simone, a British designer.
“And then all my Christmases came at once!” Simone posted on Instagram after Swift’s arrival. Four days ago she posted a photo of actress Emma Roberts wearing the same cherry-red coat.
Perhaps Simone saw how another red winter coat — by Stella McCartnery — that Swift wore to the Chiefs-Packers game last December went viral (as do many of her fashion choices).
The faux suede coat with bouncy, plush, curly trim “feels both lightweight and luxurious,” according to the garment’s description.
Simone is inspired by vintage silhouettes and the flair of Swift’s coat had a distinct retro feel.
Red for Christmas. Red for the Chiefs.
Winner winner.
“The second I saw the trim on this coat, I recognized it as a piece by #CharlotteSimone,” Chapelle wrote on Taylor Swift Styled.
“True to Taylor’s style pillars of repetition and indie designers, you might recognize elements from this coat to when she wore a similarly voluminous coat (that time in black) by this London-based designer (who focuses on sustainability and small-scale production) in December 2023 while attending the premiere of Poor Things.”
She paired swingy coat with semi-opaque tights and tall black boots.
Maybe it was just us, but her black, furry bucket hat called to mind the “22” hats she bestowed upon lucky fans at each Eras Tour show.
Pictures of the birthday party that Swift’s boyfriend, Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, recently threw for her in Kansas City show him playfully putting one of the black hats on her.
