A Missouri man can retire earlier than he was planning on, thanks to a Missouri Lottery ticket.

The man purchased a “$3 Million Supreme” Scratchers ticket at Price Chopper, 500 NE Barry Road, in Kansas City. He told Missouri Lottery that he scratched the ticket before he went home and that he knew he won a prize, but had a feeling that something wasn’t right.

Once he got home, he looked at the ticket again and realized he didn’t win $3,000 like he first thought; he had won $3 million. The Clay County grocery store had sold him the first ticket to ever win the $3 million top prize in the game.

“I called my son and asked him if he was sitting down,” he said to the Missouri Lottery. “I’m pretty sure he fell out of his chair when I told him I won and I am finally retiring.”

Players of the “$3 Million Supreme” game have won over $12.2 million since the $30 game was released in October, according to Missouri Lottery. Over $97.3 million in prize money is up for grabs, including two more $3 million top prizes and three $100,000 prizes.
