A driver heading the wrong way on a highway died after crashing into another vehicle overnight in Overland Park, a police spokesman said.

The crash occurred about 11:35 p.m. north of West 95th Street on northbound U.S. 69, said Capt. Jon-Eric Meyer, the midnight shift watch commander with the Overland Park Police Department, in a news release.

The person driving south in the highway’s northbound lanes crashed into a vehicle heading north, Meyer said.

The wrong-way driver died at the scene. That person’s identity was being withheld until the family could be notified.

The other driver was taken to a hospital for treatment. The extent of that person’s injuries was not available.
