Where to get the limited edition Chiefs coat you’ll see in Hallmark’s Xmas movie
As popular as Chiefs gear has become over the last year — shout-out to Taylor Swift — there is little doubt that fans will swoon over the women’s coat they’ll see in the new Hallmark Channel Christmas movie about the team.
Actress Hunter King wears the long red coat with gold-colored sleeves in the movie poster and publicity photos for “Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story,” which debuts Saturday at 7 p.m. Central Time.
She also wore it to the Chiefs-Raiders game at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium on Friday — where she’s worn it before.
She wore the winter coat in July when Hallmark filmed scenes at the stadium.
In an Instagram story Friday, King revealed the coat was made by Keith Costumes, the costumer for the movie, and that a version is available online.
“The incredibly talented @keith_costumes made limited edition Letterman jackets inspired by THE one from our @hallmarkchannel Chiefs movie!! IT’S SO GOOD I’m wearing mine today,” she wrote.
The Letterman Coat (KC Edition) “is as close to the real thing and in a lot of ways better than the original,” says the Keith Costumes website. “Made out of superior quality materials, custom width leather, custom woven cuffs and a luxurious cashmere wool blend outerwear.
“This coat perfectly marries classic winter wear with classic sportswear Americana.”
The limited edition costs $1,587 and can be shipped, or you can pick it up in Kansas City. Shipping date is around Feb. 15.
The website says the coat is handmade in Kansas City by local artisans.
New York City-based designer Keith Nielsen creates wardrobes for film, TV and theater. His work will be seen in two Hallmark films premiering this weekend: the Chiefs movie and “The Christmas Quest,” debuting Sunday with Lacy Chabert.
We bet King was more comfortable in the coat in 30-degree temps on Friday than in July, when she had to pretend — through her sweat and with little fans clipped to her waistband — that it was Christmas at Arrowhead.
