Is ‘Holiday Touchdown’ based on Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift?

Not really. While the movie features the Kansas City Chiefs — Travis Kelce’s team — and taps into the female-dominated audience of Hallmark movie fans — like Swifties — “Holiday Touchdown” does not directly reference Kelce and Swift’s romance.

The movie follows a Kansas City Chiefs superfan, played by Hunter King, who is vying to win the team’s “Fan of the Year” contest, run by Tyler Hynes’ character.

Even so, there are touches of the high-profile love story in the film. Donna Kelce and Andy Reid were featured in the trailer, alongside Chiefs guard Trey Smith, running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire, defensive end George Karlaftis and wide receiver Mecole Hardman.

If you’re looking for more direct Kelce-Swift references on the screen, there’s another option. On Nov. 23, Lifetime premiered “Christmas in the Spotlight,” which follows a pop star falling in love with a football player who publicly shares his crush on her.

What festivities are planned in Kansas City for the premiere?

Co-stars Tyler Hynes and Hunter King are in Kansas City for the premiere, with public appearances on their to-do list. The pair will help Quinton Lucas light the Mayor’s Christmas Tree outside of Crown Center at 6:30 p.m. Friday.

On Saturday, they’ll walk the red carpet on Grand Boulevard on Crown Center Square before the movie premiere. The free festivities begin at 4:30 p.m., when Chiefs and Hallmark Channel fans alike are invited to see the movie’s cast, Chiefs cheerleaders and KC Wolf make their way down the carpet.
