7 Kansas City area grocery store chains are closed on Thanksgiving 2024. Find out which

If you run out of dinner rolls or whipped cream on Thanksgiving, your options might be limited for Kansas City area grocery stores open Nov. 28, 2024.

Various grocery stores will be open Thursday on both the Missouri and Kansas sides, including in Overland Park, Olathe, Independence, Lee’s Summit, Blue Springs and Lenexa.

Those stores could save the day if you need to welcome an extra guest or pick up a snack on your way to a restaurant’s holiday meal.

Seven grocery store chains will be closed on the whole day of Thanksgiving:

• Aldi

• Costco

• Hy-Vee

• Sam’s Club

• Target

• Trader Joe’s

• Walmart Supercenters and Neighborhood Markets

These Kansas City area grocery stores will be open on Thanksgiving but close early. Some departments like delis and pharmacies might have different hours, so check with the store.

• Price Chopper (close at 1 p.m.)

• Whole Foods (close at 1 p.m.)

• Hen House (close at 1 p.m.)

• Sprouts Farmers Market (close at 2 p.m.)

• Save A Lot (close at 3 p.m.)

• Sun Fresh Market (stores close between 1 and 3 p.m., depending on the location)
