Teen killed, 2 others injured after being ejected in weekend crash on I-70 in Blue Springs
A teen died and two others were injured when they were ejected from their pickup during a rollover crash over the weekend in Blue Springs, according to a Missouri Highway Patrol crash report.
The crash occurred about 8:45 p.m. on westbound Interstate 70 near the exit to Northwest Woods Chapel Road, according to the highway patrol’s preliminary report.
The three teens were headed west in a 1995 Toyota Tacoma when the 17-year-old driver tired to “cut in” and collided with a 2019 Lexus on the front passenger side of the pickup.
The pickup overturned, ejecting all of the teens. A 15-year-old boy, who identity was not released, was pronounced dead at the scene. The 17-year-old driver and a 19-year-old passenger were taken to a hospital with serious injuries. The highway patrol reported that none of the teens were wearing seat belts.
The 70-year-old driver of the Lexus, who was wearing a seat belt, was not injured in the crash.
