Missing Kansas City man found dead after his vehicle turned up abandoned. What to know

A 23-year-old Kansas City man who had been missing a week was found dead Sunday evening near where his vehicle had been abandoned, a police spokesman said.

Breyden Hensley was reported missing after last known to have been in the area of Walmart at 11601 E. U.S. 40 highway in Kansas City on Aug. 11, said Capt. Jake Becchina with the Kansas City Police Department.

Hensley’s vehicle was later found near West 33rd Street and Southwest Trafficway, with his cell phone, keys and other personal belongings inside. Becchina said his family and friends were concerned for his well-being.

Hensley was found dead Sunday evening near West 29th and Summit streets.

There appeared to be no signs of foul play, Becchina said. A medical examiner will determine the cause of death.

The investigation into Hensley’s death is ongoing.
